This past football season, from October 14th through January 16th, every catch the Philadelphia Eagles made not only benefitted the team – it benefitted thousands of people in need throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
Essity, a global hygiene and health company with North American headquarters in Philadelphia, teamed up with the Eagles on the “Tackle Hygiene With Every Catch” campaign. Each Eagles reception meant that Tork, Essity’s global professional hygiene brand, would donate essential hygiene products to local non-profit organization Project HOME.
The campaign kicked off in mid-October 2021 to celebrate Global Handwashing Day and ended with the Eagles’ playoff game on January 16, 2022. With 212 catches made by Eagles players during that time, Essity donated $26,500 worth of Tork products to the organization, including toilet paper, paper towels and hand sanitizer.
This donation will help Project HOME’s mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness and alleviating the underlying causes of poverty for individuals and families across Philadelphia.
“Especially during the pandemic, access to quality products is a blessing and we are grateful for Essity’s generous help,” said Cheryl Hill, Senior Vice President, Property Operations and Residential Services for Project HOME. “It’s the support of our state and city partners, and donors like Essity, Tork and the Eagles that makes this work possible. We are deeply grateful to Essity for stepping up at a critical moment, and to our beloved Eagles for inspiring us all.”
To celebrate the end of this important initiative, the three organizations came together for a donation event in February at the Francis House of Peace in downtown Philadelphia. In attendance was former Eagles tight end Brent Celek, the team’s mascot, Swoop, as well as several Eagles cheerleaders. Also present was Raquel Carbonari, North American Brand Activation Director for Essity.
"We knew that Project HOME was an organization we could trust to truly put our donation to the very best use, delivering hygiene and health solutions to those who need it most,” said Carbonari. "The Essity community is humbled to know that, with their support, and the support of the Eagles, we are helping people all across the Philadelphia area."
Don Lewis, president of professional hygiene for Essity added: “Our Tackle Hygiene With Every Catch campaign is just one of the ways Tork shows its commitment to well-being and sustainable hygiene management for all, especially in the communities where many Essity employees work and live.”
Essity’s Tork brand is a proud partner of the Philadelphia Eagles and has kept Lincoln Financial Field stocked with Tork paper towels, toilet paper, skincare, napkins, and wiping products for over 15 seasons.
