Hand Hygiene Defeats Healthcare-Associated Infections

Hand hygiene is the primary measure taken to reduce healthcare-associated infections. On May 5th 2010, the World Health Organization (WHO) is issuing a global call to action to acknowledge and campaign for improved hand hygiene in healthcare. Are you thinking about upgrading your hygiene equipment?

As a market leader in healthcare hygiene solutions, Tork understands the importance of hand hygiene and that the simple task of cleaning hands at the right times and in the right way in healthcare saves lives. Healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) is major concern when it comes to patient safety. However, most infections are preventable.

From this perspective, every single initiative to support increased hand hygiene behavior should be acknowledged, and on May 5th 2010, a major initiative will take place as the World Health Organization is once again issuing its annual call to action. Healthcare workers, managers, facilities and organisations throughout the world are invited to acknowledge and campaign for improved hand hygiene at the point of care to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

The program has so far stimulated action at many levels, including Ministers of Health from 121 countries, including the US, pledging commitment to reduce HCAI and support the work of WHO. For more information about the initiative, visit: http://www.who.int/gpsc/5may/background/en/

Tork Healthcare Solutions

As high standards are set in healthcare facilities, Tork aims to provide solutions that meet and exceed these standards in order to further support hand hygiene improvements. Tork is for example working together with the Chinese Ministry of Health and the British National Health Service. Tork hand towels and toilet tissue are used extensively in hospitals throughout the UK.

Tork tissue products meet high standard in terms of softness, strength and cost-effectiveness. Hygiene-critical areas such as intensive care require delicate qualities that encourage good hand hygiene by being extremely absorbent and kind to the hands.
