SCA Volunteers Revitalize Neenah Couple’s Home

Employees participated in the Rebuilding Together® Fox Valley Spring Project Day 2011

NEENAH, Wis. — A team of 28 SCA’s North American Tissue division employees, family members and friends volunteered to repair the home of a Neenah couple as part of the Rebuilding Together® Fox Valley Spring Project Day 2011, held May 7. Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization whose goal is to preserve and revitalize the homes of low-income homeowners, specifically seniors and those with disabilities, to help them live independently in a warm and safe environment.

“This was the second time we’ve organized a crew to participate in the Rebuilding Together Fox Valley Spring Project Day,” said Tony Radtke, SCA America’s Director of Group Accounting, who led the company team. “The project was a great opportunity for SCA Tissue to give back to the community. By helping to make their home a safer and more comfortable place to live, homeowners Richard and Mary are able to continue to live in and enjoy their residence.”

Lending a helping hand
At the home, the SCA Tissue team painted exterior window frames and shutters, roofed a storage shed, stained the fence and deck, built two ramps, fixed the gate to the backyard, installed pavers, assisted with yard cleanup and landscaped.

Additional updates to the home included two new toilets, a new roof and new windows, financed by donations from SCA Tissue, Rebuilding Together Fox Valley and its supporters. Some preliminary work was done throughout the week prior to the project day. Jay Vanevenhoven with jd woods, Little Chute, Wis., served as the team’s project manager, providing guidance on how to approach the repairs.

SCA has nearly 920 employees in the Fox Cities, including more than 760 between its Menasha mill and Neenah converting facility and more than 150 at its Service Excellence Center in the Town of Menasha. In addition to Wisconsin, SCA’s North American tissue division, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, has manufacturing facilities in Alabama, Arizona and New York, and employs more than 2,000 in the United States and Canada.
