Company sponsors autumn fundraising events at Gordon Bubolz Preserve and Heckrodt Wetland Reserve
NEENAH, Wis. – SCA has donated $7,500 to support two autumn events at Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve in Appleton, and Heckrodt Wetland Reserve in Menasha, which are key fundraising events for both of the non-profit organizations. The proceeds from the events go to support the educational programs offered by each center.
“We are proud to sponsor the autumn fundraising events at Bubolz and Heckrodt this year to support their ongoing educational programming,” said Stephanie Ziebell, benefits analyst and a member of SCA’s community giving committee at the Service Excellence Center in Neenah, Wis. “As part of our commitment to sustainability, we want to partner with like-minded organizations that are educating people about the importance of conserving our natural resources and help raise awareness of environmental issues in our community.”

The 18th annual Romp in the Swamp event at the Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve, located at 4815 N. Lynndale Dr., takes place on Oct. 22, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event features crafts and activities for children of all ages, including: hayrides, pumpkin decorating, live animal shows, campfire storytelling, a jack-o-lantern hike, an outdoor movie and food. The cost is $5.00 per child age 15 and under, $7.00 per adult and $25 per family.
“Bubolz and Heckrodt are the only two independent nature centers in the Valley, which means our budgets are driven completely by fundraising,” said Randy Tuma, executive director at Bubolz Nature Preserve. “SCA’s sponsorship enables us to put on the Romp in the Swamp event and the proceeds from it help fund programs throughout the year for both school children and the public.”
Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, located at 1305 Plank Rd., held its 12th annual Creepy Crawlies Halloween Program on Oct. 7 and 8. This event, designed for families with children under the age of 12, included live owls, crafts, storytelling, a hayride and hikes along a Halloween-themed trail.
“In the past, we would have to take money from our wristband sales to cover the expenses of the Creepy Crawlies event,” said Tracey Koenig, executive director at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve. “With the donation from SCA, all the funds earned this year will go back into other educational programs at the center.”
