Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of SCA Adventure Play Area at Redeveloped Fritse Park in Town of Menasha

SCA’s commitment to sustainability and community spurred $50,000 cash donation

NEENAH, Wis. – The SCA Adventure Play Area was dedicated Sept. 1 at Fritse Park as part of a ceremony in which civic and business leaders celebrated completion of the $1.2 million redevelopment of the popular waterside recreational area in the Town of Menasha.

Mike Jansen, Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of SCA Tissue North America, cut the ribbon for the new play area, which features an interactive family playground with equipment and stations designed to encourage multi-generational recreation and activities. SCA, the single largest cash contributor in the redevelopment project, donated $50,000 of the $178,000 cost for the new playground, which meets all ADA requirements and is accessible to individuals with mobility issues.

“At SCA, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond environmental stewardship to contributing to the improvement of the quality of life where we do business,” Jansen said in his dedication remarks.

“Whether it’s a waterslide at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA pool or the environmental grants we make available every year to local schools, we take very seriously our responsibility to be a positive part of the local community.”

“At SCA, being a successful global business means also supporting the communities in which we live and work,” Jansen continued. “We are happy to play a part in updating and improving a community asset that hosts over 120,000 guests per year.”

Joining Jansen in cutting the ribbon at the SCA Adventure Play area were Town of Menasha Chairman Arden Tews, State Rep. Dean Kaufert, Town of Menasha Park and Recreation Commission President Gerald Voigt, and Neenah Rotary President Pete Weyenberg.

SCA Tissue has nearly 950 employees in the Fox Cities, including nearly 800 between its Menasha mill and Neenah converting facility and 150 at its Service Excellence Center in the Town of Menasha. In addition to Wisconsin, SCA Tissue North America, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, has manufacturing facilities in Alabama, Arizona and New York. The company employs more than 2,000 in the United States.
