SCA's Tork® Brand Announces Partnership with Share Our Strength®

Makers of Xpressnap ® Join Effort to Stop Childhood Hunger in America

PHILADELPHIA – SCA, a global hygiene company and makers of the Tork® brand of away-from-home paper products, including Xpressnap® napkins and dispensers, today announced it is partnering with Share Our Strength® in support of its commitment to ending childhood hunger in America. As the partnership kicks off during the holiday season, an especially difficult time for children in need, SCA pledges its support to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® Campaign. This national movement is dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to live active, healthy lives and SCA encourages its employees, partners and customers to join the cause.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 16.2 million children in America struggle with hunger. Through this new partnership, SCA will support Share Our Strength’s work to ensure children have regular access to nutritious food through innovative hunger-relief efforts such as: ensuring that children in need are enrolled in federal nutrition programs like school lunch and breakfast; teaching at-risk families how to cook and shop for healthy, affordable meals; investing in community organizations to help connect kids with food; and building public-private partnerships to end child hunger at the state and city levels. SCA encourages others to lend their support by taking the No Kid Hungry Pledge at http://nokidhungry.org/partners/sca-tork.

“Nearly one in five children in America struggle with hunger, and we at SCA believe that it is of utmost importance that the issue of child hunger be brought to the attention of the American public,” said Suzanne Cohen, foodservice segment director for SCA Tissue North America. “Working with Share Our Strength and its strong group of partners within and outside of the foodservice industry, we aim to ensure that children receive the nutritious food they need to lead healthy and happy lives.”

As the sole paper products sponsor of Share Our Strength, SCA will support initiatives with the organization throughout the year, including its fifth annual Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™, a fundraising program held each September in which thousands of consumers nationwide join with participating restaurants in support of Share Our Strength's work to end childhood hunger in America. The Share Our Strength partnership also ties into SCA’s overall goal to become closer to its foodservice customers, providing them with unique resources, such as advice from expert professional and academic authorities, best practices and hygienic and sustainable product solutions to build a better business.

“With strong partners, like SCA, committed to the movement, we will eliminate childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, Founder & CEO of Share Our Strength.  "SCA is a leader in its industry, and we’re confident they’ll be a leading advocate for our cause.”

To help fight against childhood hunger, Share Our Strength is encouraging the American public donate the cost of a meal to No Kid Hungry and help spread the message about No Kid Hungry to friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter.
